Reptiles

Mark has been treating reptiles for many years and has attended courses in the United States in order to further his knowledge.

He gained the RCVS certificate in Zoological medicine in 2007 and is the most highly qualified and experienced vet in general practice in the immediate area to treat exotics.

There are at the time of writing only 52 vets in the country holding this certificate.

The practice has full diagnostic, hospitalisation and surgical facilities including microsurgery and video endoscopy and we see tortoises, lizards and snakes on a first opinion and referral basis.

Amphibians and invertebrates are also treated at Trinity Vet Centre.

Mark is a member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and the British Veterinary Zoological Society.

As well as lecturing locally, Mark lectured last year at the ARAV annual conference in Milwaukee, USA and has had an article entitled "Veterinary care of Bearded Dragons" published in the veterinary magazine "In Practice".

Our vet Richard McCort also has a great deal of experience in dealing with exotic animals having worked in zoos including Howletts & Port Lympne and Singapore Zoo and is one of the few listed vets in the world for advice on elephant calvings having carried out such procedures. Richard has a good deal of experience treating reptiles having worked with many species (including spitting cobras) as part of his zoo work.
